Since you are not rowing, here's an erg workout for tomorrow from the Concept II website that will also get you to work on time:
"ROW FOR 55 MINUTES, ALTERNATING STROKE RATE EVERY 5 MINUTES FROM 18 SPM TO 24 SPM TO 30 SPM.
Pre-set a work time of 55 minutes. Monitor will count down to 0. Workout: Alternate stroke rate. Start with 5 minutes of easy warm-up, gradually increasing intensity. For the middle 45 minutes, divide the workout into nine 5 minute intervals. Row the first interval at 18 spm; the second interval at 24 spm, the third at 30 spm; repeat this for the remaining intervals. Row at an intensity which barely allows you to carry on a conversation. For the last 5 minutes, row easily to warm down."
In other news, Audrey Novak tells me that, contrary to what you heard here last week, the women's sweep blog is down at least until the beginning of the season since they had a paid account and prudently suspended it in the off season. For now, keep your eyes peeled for women's sweep announcements here, and when a new blog is established we'll include it in our links. And speaking of the women's sweep team -- rumor has it that Tanina Rostain is back in town from her sabbatical in Vermont.
The management also appreciates the many supportive emails we have received about the Catch's new format. Starting tomorrow, we will begin to publish our backlog which we hope will be informative and amusing. Stay tuned for profiles of our four new emeritus members.
