Are You Rower-Literate?

Thanks to Steve Gurney

Are you rower-literate? Or illiterate but afraid to admit it?

There is more to rowing than the location of our boathouse for our morning workout. Much more. Go to row 2k.com to find out. It's the official site for all things rowing and sculling. And it's free - no password hassle. Here's what you get for a few key-strokes.

* the complete calendar of races this season,
* results from all races, promptly. Past races too;
* news of people and events,
* classifieds: buy or sell a boat,
* vendors of new boats, and of rowing-related products,
* articles and stories about rowing,
* where to get boats repaired,
* rowing centers and coaching camps,
* much more.
* And, like I say, it's free!

This site is always up to date and requires a lot of daily work to keep it so. Since it's non-profit, it welcomes contributions to pay some of its costs. Last year our Club contributed $500, financed by a few of our members. Some of us also made our own individual contributions. It provides value for our Club and helps keep our dues down because it brings us revenue through attracting entries for our spring and fall regattas, and it posts our results promptly.

You can support it by sending your own contribution when you next access the site. And/or you could contribute to the Club's contribution. It's like giving to NPR - lots of great, essential, information, but it thrives on financial participation from all who benefit. You might get a classy row2k T-shirt too. Be literate. Let others know you are. Contact Steve Gurney if necessary.
