Dear NHRC Members,
I was asked to run for VP by the nomination committee. I accepted the nomination because I felt I had the history and experience that is needed for this office. Because I row several times a week I am in contact with many of you on a regular basis. I believe that anyone who serves as an officer must interact with the members in order to understand the needs and the desires of our club.
I have been a member since 1992, worked on the building of the boathouse, served as treasurer for a number of years along with serving as a director for a few years, participated on various committees of the club, and have done my share of cleaning the locker rooms.
Recently I have been asked what I feel are the Club's weaknesses that I feel needed to be addressed during by term as V.P. My answer to this is the need for more competitive rowing, the infusion of more young master rowers and finally the unity of the membership.
As for the Hopkins proposal, please note that it's not my decision but yours as a member of the Club. The new board in the very near future plans on a Club special meeting to discuss the pros and cons and have the membership approve or disapprove the idea. If endorsed by the majority, I will accept the idea and do my best as an officer to make the program a success.
We have many different groups within our club, but we all have one common goal. We all love to ROW. My interest is to continue to make rowing our number one priority. I will never put my personal interests before the interest of the Club. I have no personal agenda and will openly and honestly work for the betterment of our club.
Sincerely yours,
Wayne Huskes
