There is one small disadvantage to our snappy new blog style. Although a number of the announcements below invite you to contact someone, please do so by looking up that person's address (either on your computer or in the directory), or by writing the Catch and putting the person you wish to contact in the subject line. We will then forward the email. We think it is probably not good policy to publish personal email addresses on the web where any spammer or weirdo can get to them, although we will do so if someone posting an item explicitly requests it.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR THE DERBY SWEEPS AND SCULLS: SATURDAY, JUNE 9
The Derby Sweeps & Sculls is on the calendar for Saturday June 9. Please reserve that day and/or some time in advance to volunteer for some activity to support the regatta. Every club member is expected to do something, since the money earned goes to facilities, coaching and equipment that benefit all of us. A Volunteer Queen/SweetTalker/
Tyrant will be appointed (or conscripted) soon but, in the meantime, please plan to provide some time and think about what you would want to do.
FROM THE BOATS AND EQUIPMENT COMMITTEE: NEW DOUBLES TO TRY OUT
New lightweight doubles are available for trial rows. The Boats & Equipment Committee recognizes the need for more competitive club doubles and has arranged for Vespoli and Hudson lightweight doubles to be evaluated, along with a Van Dusen, for possible club purchase of one of them. The boats will be available for at least two weeks and will be rowed and evaluated by experienced scullers who can evaluate the pros and cons of each. Their design is for rowers from 130 pounds to 175 pounds. These boats are owned by the manufacturers, are new, and the club is responsible for their care during this demonstration period, so use is restricted and can only be arranged by reservation through the Boats & Equipment Committee. Interested and qualified scullers should see Carroll Brooke.

This is a Hudson lightweight double/pair convertible. The oarsmen are *not* members of our club. They are Canadians.
FROM THE WOMEN'S SWEEP PROGRAM
Women's sweep rowers should have received an e-mail from Tanina Rostain in the past day or so about getting organized for the new season. If you did not, write to us at the Catch and we will make sure you get on the list. Audrey Novak will be captain of the A boat again this year, and Tanina is running the B boat until Jen Van Keuren takes over this summer. Coaching has not yet begun, but it should soon, so put your boats together!
SPEAKING OF COACHING......
If you have not yet responded to Frank Castiglione's email about whether you want sweep or sculling coaching, do so soon. If you have lost Frank's email, drop us an email at the Catch and we will forward it to him.
KEYS TO THE BOAT HOUSE
If you have been a regular member for more than one year, are in good standing with initiation fees, dues, rack fees, racing fees, etc. and would like to receive a key to the boathouse, please contact Jen Brackett.
CARE OF EQUIPMENT & DAMAGE ETIQUETTE
It has been brought to our attention at the Catch that a private single was badly scratched and punctured as it was sitting in its rack doing nothing. This seems like a good opportunity to remind everyone that when equipment is damaged inadvertantly, whether it belongs to the club or to a club member, everyone *knows* it is an accident. But it is a lot better to get a phone call or a note from someone (not to mention a check for the repair) than to walk into the boat house and find that your boat has been dinged.
