Sculling Coaching Update

Mitz Carr reports that our sculling coaching sessions have come to an end. Last week both Leanne and Mark Davis, our sculling coaches, said that they could not continue coaching at NHRC. Mark is the Yale freshman heavyweight coach and will likely have both morning and afternoon commitments for Yale, and Leanne has just changed jobs, now working for City Seed, and wants to put more focus to her new opportunity. Mitz reached out to two new Yale coaches and had some discussions that she hoped would result in a seamless transition, but this evening the "final opportunity" decided not to coach at NHRC.

But scullers...DO NOT DESPAIR! After several desperate pleas, Leanne Davis is coming to our rescue and has offered to coach one day a week until the Head of the Charles. So, on Wednesday mornings she will arrive at 5:45am and launch immediately to follow and coach folks as they make their way down to Yale for the head race. She will like then position herself at a point on the course to view all scullers as they race by and then follow-up the last group. Afterwards she can offer folks comments on what she saw. This is the best way to get the most folks coached in one day and is specifically helpful to those preparing to race this fall. Some of these sessions/races will be videotaped!

Mitz and the Coaching Committee are continuing to work to find coaches for sculling, but from now until the 3rd week on October, Leanne has agreed to the Wednesday Head Race schedule and Mitz urges scullers to make use of this.
